ICREA Research Professor, Director of the P-CMR[C] - Program for Clinical Translation of Regenerative Medicine in Catalonia, and Coordinator of the Regenerative Medicine Program of IDIBELL

Expertise: Prof. Raya is an expert in pluripotent stem cells technology and regenerative medicine and his research has led to breakthrough contributions to the fields of heart development and regeneration, as well as to the development of pluripotent stem cell-based applications. Currently he is studying the tissue, cellular and molecular mechanisms that determine the regenerative response in certain species of vertebrates, as well as the biomedical applications of human pluripotent stem cells, both for disease modelling and for devising strategies of cell replacement therapy.

Role in the consortium: IDIBELL will be generating human iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and cardiac fibroblasts and 3D cardiac constructs. IDIBELL will be in charge of the in vivo experiments of WP4.
